Frequently Asked Questions

With whom do you work?

My ideal client is an adolescent or adult—male or female who is ready to take the action steps towards life change. My ideal clients are often high-achievers and people-pleasers. And this can look different depending on various seasons of life. They are sensitive, intelligent, intuitive, and way, way too accommodating towards other people’s needs, which means they often neglect their own.

My ideal client recognizes that they don’t have all the answers when it comes to overcoming their struggle. They understand that it’s a collaborative approach—us working together and them using what they’ve learned in the therapeutic space to implement in the outside world. They are committed, they ask questions, and they are curious about the healing journey. My ideal client shows up and accept feedback and they are willing to do the necessary work to heal.

How does my spiritual beliefs affect my ability to do therapy?

I do not broach subjects pertaining to spirituality/religion unless you want to. I believe healing work can be done without talking about religion or spirituality. We can incorporate Christian beliefs in sessions since I am a Christian and can only speak specifically to things that I am knowledgeable about. I personally find that incorporating Biblical truths and theological underpinnings can be helpful.

*Please note that I do not impose my views on anyone. I will not judge you or your past—my therapeutic space is completely a judge-free zone. I value YOU as a person. My life’s work is about helping you unravel the things that have been tangled. Regardless of your ethnic background, your race, handicap, disability, religion, political, or sexual orientation, I will in no way devalue you as a person. I tailor the therapeutic process to my client’s cause or issue, and cultural context with care and concern. My goal is for you to heal from the hard knocks of life and trauma—even (& especially) religious trauma.

Do you offer virtual or in-person services?

My office is located in McKinney, TX.

I also provide telehealth psychotherapy services to clients residing anywhere in the state of Texas in accordance with the standards set forth by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), and Texas licensing boards.

How often will we meet? How long are sessions?

Starting off, I require new clients to meet with me weekly for the first 6-8 weeks. This is so that we can build a rapport and I can get an idea of what you’re struggling with. After that— although not recommended for clients struggling with complex issues, we can meet bi-weekly and then adjust the frequency as needed.

Sessions are anywhere between 45 minutes to 150 minutes, depending on the service provided.

What is your late cancel/no show policy?

My cancellation policy is 24 hours of the scheduled appointment. I allow a 15 minute window from your session start time. After that time, the late cancel, no show fee will be charged.

Do you accept insurance?

I take a limited form of insurance, however, you may have options for reimbursing your expenses through your insurance provider or EAP employee benefit plan. I can provide a super-bill if your insurance company allows it for reimbursement.

If you’re  unsure about out-of-network benefits or wish to confirm if services are eligible for reimbursement under your plan, you may want to contact your insurance provider. Ask if your plan offers mental health benefits including counseling, and if so, you want to know what services are covered, how many sessions are covered, is tele-health included, and whether you need to meet a deductible.

Furthermore, I can also take Flexible Spending Account (FSA) or Health Savings Account (HSA) for payment.

Why would I need therapy?

Some people come to therapy to work on a specific issue, and leave therapy once they work through that concern. Other clients commit to a longer-term therapy in order to uproot childhood trauma in addition to processing other concerns.
